Incident Map. This map shows the locations of oil spills and other incidents for which NOAA's Office of Response and Restoration (OR&R) provided scientific support for the response. It also shows the locations of other major spills, but it does not show the location of every significant oil spill.
SkyTruth created Oil Spill Tracker in 2010, with support from Surfrider Foundation and Ocean Conservency. It was created to fill the information vacuum that was created by the government and the BP-driven spill response process in the aftermath of the BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
Cerulean is SkyTruth’s global monitoring system for ocean oil pollution, designed to detect oil slicks in satellite imagery and identify nearby vessels and offshore oil infrastructure that could be the source of those slicks.

Oil spills are disasters that can have severe social, economic, and environmental impacts. They are the release of crude oil or refined petroleum products from tankers, rigs, wells, and offshore platforms. These spills are most common in marine environments but can also occur on land.
16 Σεπ 2021 · Copernicus Sentinel-1, Sentinel-2 and Sentinel-3 satellite imagery was used to track the oil spill, in combination with ocean current models from the Copernicus Marine Service and atmospheric models (e.g. on surface winds) from the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS).
7 Οκτ 2021 · At least two satellites caught a glimpse of oil in the ocean off the coast of Southern California on October 2-3, 2021. The first image above is a natural-color view acquired at 11:22 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time (18:22 Universal Time) on October 3 by the Operational Land Imager (OLI) on Landsat 8.
