“Trade Policy Reviews” analyse the trade policies and practices of each member of the WTO. The reviews consist of three parts: an independent report by the WTO Secretariat, a report by the government, and the concluding remarks by the Chair of the WTO’s Trade Policy Review Body.

Since its last review in 1999, gross domestic product (GDP) grew annually by an average of 4.5% and in 2004, GDP grew by 6.1%, the highest rate since 1997. The growth was attended by strength in the services, industry and agriculture sectors. Gross national product (GNP) also expanded by 6.1% in 2004.
Trade Policy. As judged by the Trade (MFN) Tariff Restrictiveness Index (TTRI), on which it is ranked 45th out of 125 countries, the Philippines’s tariff regime is less restrictive, on the whole, than that of an average East Asia and Pacific (EAP) or lower‐middle‐income country.
