Mentoring is a process that focuses specifically on providing guidance, direction, and career advice. Mentoring programs can be either a standalone program or part of a training and development program within an organization.
Our definition of mentoring incorporates coaching, which we see as “one of a range of developmental activities which mentors may adopt to empower mentees and support their professional learning, development and wellbeing” (Hobson & Maxwell, 2020, p.194).
