In so doing it provides a deeper understanding of the concept to enable its consistent application within nurse education.

A review of the literature includes descriptions of formal and informal mentoring as well as the description of mentoring in the role transition process. Innovative strategies such as simulation-based learning, mentorship programs, and interdisciplinary collaboration can bridge the divide between theory and practice [ 6 , 11 , 12 ].
