One of the most interesting aspects of study within modern games is player behavior, and how the actions and tendencies of a video game's user can reflect or even influence the sociology of reality.
This book explores video game culture, but in doing so, utilizes video games as a lens through which to understand contemporary social life. Video games are becoming an increasingly central part of our cultural lives, impacting on various aspects of everyday life such as our consumption, communities, and identity formation.
Both are readily found in role-playing games (RPGs): rules and game mechanics are important structures, while the performance of roles and the cooperative actions of players are important processes.
