  3. Traditional mentoring begins with the assumption that the school, as the site of student learning and growth, is either value-neutral or yields unilaterally positive impacts on students. In traditional approaches, the school is understood as little more than a container in which a generalized process of development is carried out.

  4. An effective mentoring relationship is one in which the mentee feels holistically supported by their mentor as they grow towards achieving their goals. Honest and regular communication between mentor and mentee allows for trust-filled conversations surrounding expectations, goal-setting, evaluations, and more to flourish organically.
