14 Απρ 2015 · This museum is a great place to see historic trains, planes & automobiles at and explore around the outside grounds seeing all the displays of mostly trains & railroad equipment. Many of the exhibits that are both indoors & outdoors have detailed signs by them describing what is on display.
Railroad. The museum's grounds include Barretts Tunnel, one of the first railroad tunnels west of the Mississippi River. Among its railroad items are: [3] Aerotrain No. 3. The only surviving Milwaukee Road class EP-2 Bi-Polar Electric. Union Pacific Big Boy No. 4006. The largest steam locomotive of the museum's collection.
The National Museum of Transportation is located in southwestern St. Louis near the suburb of Kirkwood. The museum was founded in 1944. The museum has on display the largest collection of steam locomotives in the United States.
A Missouri-only Amtrak route, the Missouri River Runner connects St. Louis and Kansas City with stops in between. As the name suggests, trains follow the Missouri River for part of the journey. Amenities include WiFi, a café car and business class seating.
