Light and electron transfer processes seem to be amenable to a more quantitative theoretical treatment. The substrates are immaterial or very small and the transfer processes on which I focus are intramolecular and far removed from solvent.
4 Αυγ 2009 · In photosynthesis, light energy is absorbed by protein bound pigments and transferred via an exciton mechanism 1 to the photosynthetic reaction center, where it is converted into chemical energy. The photosynthetic pigments are different variants of chlorophyll (Chl) and bacteriochlorophyll (BChl) as well as carotenoids.
10 Σεπ 2024 · Applying this framework to rovibrational spectroscopy of molecules, we uncover the general mechanism of angular momentum exchange between the spin and orbital angular momenta of light, molecular rotation, and its center-of-mass motion.
Aspects of intramolecular light energy and electron transfer are discussed for three protein cofactor complexes whose three-dimensional structures have been elucidated by X-ray crystal- lography: the light harvesting phycobilisomes of cyanobacteria, the reaction center of purple bacteria, and the blue multi-copper oxidases.
4 Αυγ 2009 · This mini-review summarizes the current theoretical knowledge about excitation energy transfer in pigment–protein complexes and provides an introduction to the theory of light harvesting and to structure-based calculations of the parameters of the theory.
1 ημέρα πριν · Abstract. The guiding and transport of energy, for example, of electromagnetic waves, underpins many modern technologies, ranging from long-distance optical fibre telecommunications to on-chip ...
