Transportation costs are a significant consideration in the field of nursing, affecting both healthcare providers and patients. By understanding the components and impacts of these costs, healthcare organizations can implement strategies to minimize expenses and improve care delivery.
Interhospital Patient Transport. Interhospital patient transport involves moving patients between different healthcare facilities. When is interhospital transport needed?
This study sought to: (a) document the processes, labor, time, and costs of transferring patients between nursing units in the hospital; (b) calculate a process efficiency factor for the transport event; and (c) calculate an inefficiency factor for the hospital system relative to the transfers.
