In response, the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health funded nine regionally based community partnerships to build capacity to address trauma.
While efforts to develop trauma-informed CWSs are accelerating, little research is available about the effects of these efforts on system capacity to respond to the needs of youth exposed to trauma. No studies evaluate longer-term effects of these efforts.

Trauma-informed transformation is a cultural shift, a move toward safety-focused, strength-based, consumer-driven, empowerment-rich programming that allows consumers to take charge of their recovery, addresses unsafe behaviors and prioritizes safety as a platform for recovery.
