21 Απρ 2020 · Anyone participating in a trial, many involving “compassionate use” protocols of untested drugs, were conducted at the NIH, making it necessary for Dallas-area AIDS patients to travel to Washington DC to enroll in trials relating to treatment of HIV (the “human immunodeficiency virus”).

We assessed temporal trends in health outcomes (1993–2017) and mortality (1994–2017) for 10 566 HOPS participants.
20 Δεκ 2016 · From 1982 to 1986 the MDAH AIDS program saw more than 1,000 referrals. AIDS patients overwhelmed the intensive care unit at MDAH and spilled over into regular hospital rooms. MDAH needed greater space and funds in order to more effectively treat AIDS patients.

The medical care of patients infected with HIV is a problem involving a complex, multisystem disease process, multiple hospitalizations, invasive diagnostic testing, and an extremely high mortality rate.
