9 Δεκ 2021 · By taking advantage of the CAGED system, we can utilize any one of the 5 patterns of the CAGED system to play arpeggios in many different positions on the fretboard. We’ll get started with a quick summary before we get into more detail, including arpeggio diagrams, tab, and more.

Triads break up the full arpeggio patterns into smaller, 3-note variations which can be a little easier to incorporate musically. I think the easiest way to visualize these triads is by using the 3-strings approach. The examples shown here are for G major and G minor, but can be applied to any key. The C-A-G-E-D System is a useful method for organizing all styles of music on the guitar. It is based on five essential guitar chord forms found in the first position: C, A, G, E and D. The C-A-G-E-D System provides a simple way of grouping melodies with their related chord shapes.
The CAGED system doesn’t just apply to chord shapes on the guitar fretboard, but also major scale and arpeggio patterns. This makes sense given that chords are built from scales. The diagram below outlines the major arpeggio and scale pattern for each of the CAGED chord shapes.
