A modified SpeedBridge™ construct, with multiple suture passes and knotless SwiveLock® anchors laterally, provides a strong repair that may be applied in many tendon repair indications. An alternate repair technique is the use of whip stitches for the tendon that are passed through two small transosseous tunnels.
Indications for distal triceps repair include partial or complete tendon ruptures. Repair is preferably performed within the first three weeks for the best outcomes. Rehabilitation following distal triceps repair will progress more slowly over the first 6 weeks to protect the healing triceps tendon.
Although triceps tendon tears are less common than other tendon tears, complete ruptures require surgical repair to restore the strength of the extensor mechanism of the elbow. There are several described techniques for repair using both transosseous tunnels and suture anchors.
