Auto manufacturers used to incentivize dealers to get better google reviews, yelp reviews, etc. However, they've gotten more aggressive and they now remove allocation for dealers to receive as many new cars if the insanely high bar on surveys and reviews is not met.
Yesterday I purchased a new car. The dealership was manipulative and I did not like the way they did business, so I left them an honest, fair, detailed review. Since then they have been calling me frequently about taking the review down. Saying things like "you promised us a good review" to which I reply that I promised an honest review.
Is there some scam going on? I feel like every town has one or more tiny, one-location, independent car dealers who sell very high-end cars (e.g. Porsches, AMGs, Aston Martins, Range Rovers, Maseratis, high-end BMWs, sometimes even Ferraris, etc). Usually they are extremely shady looking, often located in sketchier parts of town, and their cars ...
BBB is just a review website. Like Yelp. Why YSK: those complaints you made on BBB towards a business or company is not really going to go anywhere unless action is taken by the company itself. So when you call into customer service and try to leverage making a complaint on BBB, you’re not really creating a convincing argument for yourself.
Is DealerRater a reasonable indicator of a dealership's reputation? For example I'm considering buying a car from a dealer that has 2.5/5 stars from 292 reviews. I think that is pretty worrying no? Are there other ways to determine a reputable dealer other than asking friends?
My experience with AutoNation has been terrible and they have dealers across the U.S. I would avoid them. Service was much worse than the car purchase. I could be wrong, but I think Cars.com has a good dealer rating system.
