6 Δεκ 2023 · Secretion of the thyroid hormones T4 (thyroxine) and T3 (triiodothyronine) is regulated by pituitary thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) (figure 1 and figure 2). TSH secretion, in turn, is controlled through negative feedback by thyroid hormones (see "Thyroid hormone synthesis and physiology").

25 Ιουν 2024 · It controls the production of thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). TSH rises when the blood plasma levels of T3 and T4 fall and vice versa. Thyroid Stimulating Hormone Receptor Antibodies (TSHR Ab, also known as TRAb) – TRAb is potentially stimulatory and blocking to the thyroid gland.
If the level drops just a little below normal the pituitary reacts by secreting a hormone called thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), which activates the thyroid gland to produce more T4. When the thyroid hormone levels rise above normal, the ‘thermostat’ senses this and the pituitary stops secreting TSH so that the thyroid makes less T4.
22 Ιαν 2024 · Normal Free T4 values: 0.7 to 1.8 ng/dl. What elevated TSH indicates: Usually hypothyroidism, but can also be a pituitary issue. What very low TSH indicates: Usually hyperthyroidism, but can also be a pituitary issue. Hypothyroidism and Hyperthyroidism.
28 Απρ 2018 · Raised TSH: due to the absence of negative feedback. Low T4: due to the thyroid’s inability to produce enough T4. A normal T4 in the context of a raised TSH may suggest subclinical hypothyroidism (most commonly caused by underlying autoimmune disease). Aetiology. Causes of primary hypothyroidism include: Autoimmune thyroiditis (50%) Iodine ...
