I have a best buddy 100 IV Tyranitar with bite, crunch and stone edge. I've heard this move set is good but it's just too slow when generating energy. Is this actually the best move set for pvp or do you know a better one?

Smack down (legacy move) for fast. Crunch and Stone Edge for charged. It’s pretty great for raids though. You could make a rock attacker with smack down or go with a dark attacker with bite.
Looking ahead to legendary boss raids where Tyranitar is one of the best Pokemon to use, Bite/Crunch will be better for Mew, Mewtwo, Lugia and Celebi. Bite/Stone Edge will be better for the 3 birds, Entei, and Ho-oh.
Tyranitar's reign is over Im afraid. There's several better options out there now like Rampardos, Rhyperior (rock types) or Hydreigon (dark type). But if you dont have them its still good for raids and defeating grunts. It depends on which role you're looking for it to fill.
