A tzaddik is someone who embodies tzedek, or righteousness, in order to overcome their surroundings in order to serve as a source of inspiration and spiritual help for others. In Hasidic literature, the tzaddik often pleads with God on behalf of the Jewish people.
Tzadik (Hebrew: צַדִּיק ṣaddīq [tsaˈdik], "righteous [one]"; also zadik or sadiq; pl. tzadikim [tsadiˈkim] צדיקים ṣadīqīm) is a title in Judaism given to people considered righteous, such as biblical figures and later spiritual masters. The root of the word ṣadiq, is ṣ - d - q (צדק tsedek), which means "justice" or "righteousness". [1] .
Tzaddik צדיק is a form of the Hebrew verb צדק [TzDK], which carries the meaning of doing what is correct and just. Weights that are calibrated correctly are called moznei tzedek. The judge is urged, “ Tzedek, tzedek you shall pursue!”
