The University of Alaska Anchorage Master of Social Work program is a distance-delivered, advanced generalist MSW program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education that prepares graduates for clinical social work practice, policy practice, and social work leadership.

Graduates completing the Bachelor of Social Work may be eligible to pursue licensure as a baccalaureate social worker (LBSW) with the State of Alaska. This program is designed to meet the educational requirements for professional licensure or certification in the State of Alaska.
(a) An applicant for renewal of a social worker license who has been licensed for less than 12 months of the concluding license period shall document completion of 21 contact hours of continuing education activities acceptable to the board that were earned during the concluding license period and include a minimum of
Licensure and/or Certification. Graduates completing the Master of Social Work are eligible to sit for the Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) examination within the state of Alaska immediately after graduation. This program is designed to meet the educational requirements for professional licensure or certification in the State of Alaska.
