  5. 1 Οκτ 2006 · Beginning September 1, 2023, eligible SHRA/EHRA new hires have 30 days from their hire date or date of benefits-eligible employment to decide on a mandatory retirement of either TSERS or the Optional Retirement Program (ORP). If no election is made, the new hire is defaulted to the TSERS plan, this action is irrevocable.

Approximately 90 to 120 days before your planned retirement date, you should complete a Form 6, “Claiming Your Monthly Retirement Benefit.” Please see the guides on Form 6 for additional detailed information about the retirement process.
