David Goodblatt Endowed Chair in Ancient Jewish Civilization. Rita L. Atkinson Endowed Chair in German Studies. (Ph.D. University of California, Berkeley, 1982; Adjunct Professor, History, UCSD) is an expert in Medieval China, the Tao, and Taoists saints. Her work also includes research on women in Medieval China.
From a historical perspective, this course explores where human rights come from and what they mean by integrating them into a history of modern society, from the conquest of the Americas and the origins of the Enlightenment, to the Holocaust and the contemporary human rights regime.

St. Louis Genealogy & Local History Prior to 1877, St. Louis County encompassed the City of St. Louis plus all other areas within the county boundaries including such towns as Kirkwood and Florissant.
The History & Genealogy Department collection consists of resources that support local history and genealogical research pertaining to St. Louis; Missouri; the colonial United States; US westward migration; and immigration to Missouri.
