Yeah I only buy SD if there's no other option. Like 'Night Court', 'Star Trek:DS9', 'Ten Little Indians'.... There is NO reason to buy SD other than that being the only redeemable option. Sometimes SD, HD and UHD will all be the same price. It's criminal for Vudu to even give the SD option in those cases.

HDX is Vudu's term for 1080p HD video. The X part is them claiming they serve the videos in a higher bitrate than regular HD videos from iTunes, Amazon, etc. Higher bitrate can mean better quality/crispness while still at 1080p resolution. UHD is Ultra HD, with a resolution of 4K. Overall, UHD will usually be better than HDX if you have a 4K TV ...
20 Ιαν 2016 · Here's the deal. I have a Samsung HD TV and I bought a Samsung UHD TV. I got a Roku 4 so Vudu UHD would play. Right off, I was suspicious of the picture quality and I thought there was very little difference in the UHD and the HDX picture. Today I connected both TV's up side by side and watching Into the Storm at the same time.

Vudu lists many of their movies as 4k UHD, but some of those movies are not available in 4k anywhere else, and not on 4k Blu-Ray either. What's more is that the UHD version on Vudu is the same price as the HDX version.
HDX is basically 1080p HD video (blu-ray). UHD is 4k which is 2160p (4 times the number of pixels as it is double in hight and width). Not exactly 4k in the same way 1080p is not 2k. If fact HD is closer to 2k than UHD is to 4k but nobody calls HD "2k". Not exactly 4k in the same way 1080p is not 2k.
