The problem comes down to Uncanny X-Force being largely crossover-free and dealing with a pretty awful moral dilemma (the idea of preemptively killing people to prevent a bad thing) which ends up being proven to be conclusively wrong.
For Apocalypse, I’d recommend the X-Factor issues of Fall of the Mutants and the build up to that involving Archangel. The X-Factor omni covering all of this will be out next year, and I think you can find Fall of the Mutants in TPB.
