- SDG Goal 5: Gender Equality - UNICEF DATA
Use these ten targets to create action to ensure quality education. By 2030, ensure that all girls and boys complete free, equitable and quality primary and secondary education leading to relevant and effective learning outcomes.
The report explores how children learn and develop and how the key actors in children’s early environments – parents, families, educators, and the community at large – can be leveraged through public policies and social programmes to improve young children’s learning and well-being.
UNICEF is committed to giving every child in the Region a fair chance to be healthy, educated, protected and included. We support children who are affected by humanitarian crises, and mitigate the impact of natural disasters. We provide solid evidence on what works in the best interests of children.
Notably, UNICEF Strategic Plan Goal Area. 2 (Every child learns) is fully aligned to SDG4 and other education-related targets. The indicator is calculated as the percentage of children and/ or young people at the relevant stage of education achieving or exceeding a pre-defined proficiency level in a given subject.
SDG target 4.2 corresponds to UNICEF’s Strategic Plan Goal Area 1 (Every Child Survives and Thrives) and Goal Area 2 (Every Child Learns).
The report also outlines the shift towards a greater focus on improving learning outcomes, including supporting the breadth of skills that allow young people to become agile, adaptive learners and citizens, equipped to navigate personal, social, academic, economic and environmental challenges.
