Specific heat is measured using a calorimeter, where a known amount of heat is added to a substance, and the resulting temperature change is recorded. This allows for the calculation of specific heat based on the formula \( c = \frac{q}{m \cdot \Delta T} \).
Specific Heat. The specific heat is the amount of heat per unit mass required to raise the temperature by one degree Celsius. The relationship between heat and temperature change is usually expressed in the form shown below where c is the specific heat.
Use our specific heat calculator to calculate the energy required to achieve a desired temperature change, the mass, the change in temperature, or the specific heat capacity of a substance.
Unlike the total heat capacity, the specific heat capacity is independent of mass or volume. It describes how much heat must be added to a unit of mass of a given substance to raise its temperature by one degree Celsius. The units of specific heat capacity are J/(kg °C) or equivalently J/(kg K).
11 Ιουλ 2022 · Calculate the specific heat capacity of water and other substances. Calculate the energy required to increase the temperature of an amount of substance of known specific heat. Calculate the temperature change an energy addition will cause to an amount of substance of known specific heat.
11 Αυγ 2024 · The unit of specific heat is Joules per gram per degree Celsius or J/g∙ ∘ C. Another unit of specific heat is calories per gram per degree Celsius or J/cal∙ ∘ C. The temperature change (∆T) in the Celsius (C) scale is the same as that in the Kelvin (K) scale, although the temperature values differ.
