With nothing more than a digital or smartphone camera and some free computer software, you can digitally enhance a picture of your ancestors’ gravestone to read his or her name, birth and death date and epitaph.
17 Φεβ 2024 · Many gravestones, especially ones that are flat on the ground, become covered with leaves, dirt, or mud. A quick brushing can make all the difference in being able to read the names and dates. Be sure the brush is soft so it doesn’t damage the headstone.
One technique which has worked well for me is using the 'negative' setting in photo programs like Irfanview, or playing with the gamma correction, to bring out subtleties in the photograph.
