This year marks the 40th anniversary of The Divayina newspaper founded by Upali Wijewardene, widely regarded as one of the finest entrepreneurs this country has ever produced.

Launched in October 1981 based on a concept by the late Upali Wijewardene, founder of the Upali Group of Companies. The first issue of the Island was a Sunday newspaper followed by the daily paper.
