Urusei Yatsura: The Final Chapter (うる星やつら 完結篇, Urusei Yatsura: Kanketsuhen?) is the fifth film in the Urusei Yatsura franchise. It was produced by Kitty Films, and is the first UY production to be primarily animated by Magic Bus. It released to theaters by Toho on February 6, 1988 alongside Maison Ikkoku: The Final Chapter.
In my mind Lum the Forever will always be the end of the anime -- much as I enjoy Inaba the Dream Maker and some of the OVAs -- when Ataru is forcibly thrown by a crazy explosion into Lum's arms. And the closing credits, with "Melancholy no Kiseki" and the photo montage, are sublime.
Btw this is the last page of the manga so spoilers for those who don't know the ending yet! I don't think it spoils what exactly will happen on the 5th movie though. Couldn't attach the 2nd photo for some reason. Here's the translation: Lum 「Even if it takes my entire life, I'll make ya' say it.」 Ataru 「I'll say it on my deathbed.」 ??
Urusei Yatsura Final OP - Bye Bye Darling by MAISONdes. Tue visual charm of all the 2022 OPs and EDs is just as prevalent with these last two. There were tons of great shots between the shots of every character, all the couples coming together, some of the future plots, and everything concerning Ataru and Lum in them.
