  1. Phosphate buffered saline (PBS) is a commonly used solution in biological research and contains NaCl, KCl, KH2 PO 4 and Na 2 HPO 4 salts. It has been used as a corrosive medium for testing the applicability of Mg alloys for biomedical application [61, 85–88].

  2. PBS has many uses because it is isotonic and non-toxic to most cells. These uses include substance dilution and cell container rinsing. PBS with EDTA is also used to disengage attached and clumped cells. Divalent metals such as zinc, however, cannot be added as this will result in precipitation.

  3. The use of a physiological saline buffer is required for different purposes when working with NSCs, mainly for tissue or cell washing. We recommend the use of sterile commercial Dulbecco's Phosphate Buffered Saline without magnesium or calcium (DPBS).

  4. Phosphate Buffered Saline (PBS) is a solution prepared by diluting a stock solution of specific salts (NaCl, KCl, Na2HPO4•H2O, KH2PO4) to create a buffer with a pH of 7.3. Tween 20 is added to PBS in concentrations between 0.1% and 0.2% to optimize its performance in biological applications.

  5. 28 Ιαν 2019 · PBS or phosphate-buffered saline is a buffer solution that is particularly valuable because it mimic the ion concentration, osmolarity, and pH of human body fluids. In other words, it's isotonic to human solutions, so it's less likely to cause cell damage, toxicity, or unwanted precipitation in biological, medical, or biochemical research.

  6. 16 Αυγ 2017 · We found that with an increase in solute concentration the apparent water content decreased for all solution types. Solutes diffused into the tissue for NaCl and sucrose, however, no solute diffusion was observed for PEG or SPEG.

  7. 2 Οκτ 2007 · INTRODUCTION: To examine the long-term effects of normal saline and a synthetic tissue fluid (phosphate buffered saline, PBS) on mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA). MATERIALS AND METHODS: Root-ends of twelve extracted human teeth were resected; root-end cavities were prepared and filled with MTA.
