In this interactive chart, we see the share of primary energy consumption that came from renewable technologies – the combination of hydropower, solar, wind, geothermal, wave, tidal, and modern biofuels.
20 Ιουν 2024 · Electricity generation from solar, measured in terawatt-hours (TWh) per year.
This interactive map shows the share of primary energy that comes from renewables (the sum of all renewable energy technologies) across the world. The share of energy we get from individual renewable technologies – solar, or wind, for example – is given in the sections below.
This guide for policy makers addresses all solar technologies – solar photovoltaic (PV) electricity, concentrating solar power (CSP, or solar thermal electricity [STE]), and solar heating and cooling (SHC).
Key Findings from Solar Heat Worldwide. Solar heat -- one of the top three renewable sources driving climate protection. In 2019, solar thermal systems produced 479 GW th. This equates to 43 million tons of oil saved and 138 million tons of CO 2 emissions avoided.
Since 2005, countries, now 72, have provided data to create the most comprehensive assessment of solar heating and cooling markets worldwide. Our flagship report stands out for its detailed analysis of solar thermal technologies and serves as a reference source among international organizations, including the IEA, REN21, and IRENA.
