6 Οκτ 2024 · You can use Windows for your home server, but we wouldn't recommend it. It can be more difficult to configure for many common use cases, and this approach is heavier on performance.

It is quite possible that windows will be generating more demand on your processor in idle than Linux will as a server. I successfully ran proxmox on an 8 year old Sony laptop (battery removed) and a 4 year old Lenovo (sealed battery) with no problems.
