There are six levels of clue scroll: Beginner, Easy, Medium, Hard, Elite, and Master. An easy clue scroll is a low difficulty Treasure Trail , with a low reward yield. A medium clue scroll is a medium difficulty Treasure Trail with a more substantial reward yield.
Monsters that drop treasure trail keys drop them only when the player is in possession of that clue. It is worth noting that for clue steps involving keys, it is possible to obtain the key before reading the hint, which could save the player some time. I am a max main currently working om collection logs and is looking into ways of gathering hard clues. Of course implings will be the best but this comes with a huge gp loss. My understanding is that there are two main non-impling ways, cannoning hellhounds in wildy with row(i), and barraging/bursting jellies in catacombs.

They offer some of the most lucrative rewards but are also the most challenging to complete. To obtain a Hard Clue Scroll, you can either pickpocket H.A.M. Members, kill various high-level monsters, or receive them as a drop from certain bosses.
