30 Οκτ 2023 · The uterine artery is a branch of the anterior division of the internal iliac artery, arising below the obturator artery. It runs inferiorly and medially along the lateral wall of the lesser pelvis, coursing into the inferior part of the broad ligament of uterus called the cardinal ligament.
15 Νοε 2022 · It runs medially in the pelvis, within the base of the broad ligament, to the outer surface of the uterus. From lateral to medial it has a descending, transverse and ascending portion. The ascending portion runs alongside the uterus and passes anterior to the ureter.
The anatomy of the uterine artery (UA) is highly complex, demonstrating various patterns of origin and course. The main objective of the present study is to provide the first anatomical heat map of the UA, demonstrating the location of its origin and course in the pelvis.
4 Σεπ 2023 · In the myometrium, the uterine artery further branches out to the arcuate artery, radial artery, spiral artery, and basal artery. The descending branch supplies blood to uterine cervix and vagina. The arcuate artery around the cervix is also called the circular artery of the cervix.
12 Μαΐ 2019 · The blood supply to the uterus is via the uterine artery. Venous drainage is via a plexus in the broad ligament that drains into the uterine veins. Lymphatic drainage of the uterus is via the iliac, sacral, aortic and inguinal lymph nodes.
3 Νοε 2016 · The internal pudendal branch is the main artery of the perineum. The remainder include the umbilical, obturator, inferior vesical (males), uterine (females), middle rectal and inferior gluteal arteries. The posterior division of the internal iliac artery supplies the pelvic and gluteal muscles.
The uterine artery arises from the anterior division of the internal iliac artery and runs medialward on the Levator ani and toward the cervix uteri; about 2 cm from the cervix it crosses above and in front of the ureter, to which it supplies a small branch.
