12 Νοε 2015 · Veteran Designation License. A new law for 2023 - Veteran Designation on Driver's Licenses (SB 837) eliminates the $5 fee for obtaining a military “VETERAN" designation on a driver's license or identification (ID) card.
To apply for the veteran designation on your DL/ID card, you will need to: Complete a Driver’s License & Identification Card Application (DL 44/eDL 44) form. Visit a County Veteran Service Office (CVSO) to obtain a Veteran Status Verification Form (VSD-001).

This process allows you to upload needed documents like marriage certificates (for spouses), birth certificates (for children), or proof of eligibility if a surviving spouse.

If you are on active duty, or served 20 years and retired from the military, you are issued a military ID card by the VA. If you are enrolled in veteran health care they provide a laminated card that many businesses recognize.
You can use your printed Veteran ID Card (VIC) instead of your DD214 to get discounts on goods and services offered to Veterans. You can also use other identification cards for this purpose. Find out if you need a VIC or if you already have what you need.
