The three most common causes of vaginal discharge are bacterial vaginosis and infection with T. vaginalis and C. albicans. Among postpubertal women, N. gonorrhoeae and C. trachomatis infect the endocervix rather than the vagina, and they therefore may not present with vaginal discharge.
