Rack 2 comes in two variants: Free (open-source): Standalone application. Pro ($149 regular price, $99 until 2022): Standalone, VST2, more plugin formats coming soon.

Here’s my best VCV Rack modules, I’ve updated this in 2024, including lots of new ones for VCV Rack 2. I’ve included my best fee modules and best paid too. If I was to start from scratch and only get a few I would choose all the free VCV Rack and Surge XT modules, plus the VCV Drums to get started.

Download and install VCV Rack. Register for a VCV account and log in using Rack’s “Library” menu. Add or purchase a module on the VCV Library. Open the “Library” menu in Rack, click “Update all” (if updates are needed), and restart Rack once downloaded.
