All of the main characters of Star Trek: Next Generation are vegetarians. Because the series happens in a future where synthetic meat is the norm. Star trek has always been pro vegan, the Vulcans for instance are an entirely vegetarian (probably vegan culture). The underlying ideals Star Trek talks about, are all ideals that are congurent with our beliefs.
