22 Ιουλ 2021 · When M. Night Shyamalan’s “Old,” based on the book by Pierre-Oscar Lévy and Frederick Peeters, is playing thematically with those feelings and allowing itself to be surreal and scary in the process, it truly works.
The Thing: Directed by John Carpenter. With Kurt Russell, Wilford Brimley, T.K. Carter, David Clennon. A research team in Antarctica is hunted by a shape-shifting alien that assumes the appearance of its victims.
13 Απρ 2007 · The Thing is definitely one of the most intense and horrific films ever made. Outstanding special effects, superb casting, and brilliant direction all combine to create an unmatched tale of paranoia and terror.
The prequel bothers me because it's a case of the studio meddling with production. The director really did have some cool practical effects, but producers wanted CGI. Carpenter's The Thing is a landmark in practical effects and absolutely masters atmospheric dread and paranoia. The prequel would probably be a half decent movie if it was unrelated.
