You can't go straight from vga to component unless your card supports component through vga, which hardly any do anymore. A standard vga signal needs conversion to component. Sync signal is different.
If your CRT TV is HD CRT then you can look into transcoding RGBHV 480p (VGA) to component via a different linuxbot converter or again a GBS-C. Edit: Also as KnighNZ linked, that cable already does the transcoding for you
