this is a true reproduction of an original remington m40 vietnam era sniper stock. we finally got our hands on a real good original pattern. this stock is american black walnut, straight grained, select grade walnut. it is appx. 95% shaped, inletted, and sanded. this stock also doubles for a late 60's remington m 700 short action bdl varmint stock.
23 Φεβ 2024 · However, in Vietnam, the 2112 armorers saw the M40 stocks warping from the high humidity, so they put a coat of shellac on the stock. The armorers also bedded the barreled action with Bisonite to aid with the rifle's accuracy.
Does anyone know who makes a replica WOOD stock for the Vietnam era M40's? I am starting to collect things for a build. I missed the factory Remington replicas a few years ago. Any info on these beautiful rifles is greatly appreciated.
22 Ιαν 2014 · It now has an original m40 sniper stock, numbered in the barrel channel, although not to this gun. As with early m40 snipers there is no marking of .308 NATO on the barrel. The bolt is correctly numbered on the underside to the receiver.
31 Μαρ 2022 · There's only 2 known original Vietnam War used M40 stocks that still retain their paint and they show evidence of the stock being painted while separated from the barreled action (as opposed to how the M40A1/3/5/6 rifles were painted by the snipers).

24 Αυγ 2007 · Here's a picture of the rebarrelled action with the stock outfitted with the fixed sling swivels and the sling in place. I will add pictures of this when I get to fitting the buttplate properly and opening the barrel channel, hopefully later tonight.
