Introduction. 1 The A Lưới Mountains are located in Central Vietnam, in the western part of the Thừa Thiên Huế province, and the studied area corresponds to the present-day A Lưới district (fig. 1). These mountains served as a main battleground during the Vietnam War (1961-1975).
