7 Μαρ 2007 · You don't have to worry about 32 bit software compatibility in Windows Vista or XP x64, since they run natively and seamlessly, but drivers are an absolute killer.
All that said… I’d recommend anyone installing Vista on a new machine should use Vista64 and as much RAM as their machine supports. Vista64 is actually a completely different operating system than Vista 32-bit and seems to run a lot faster and smoother in my experience.

A 64-bit OS can give individual 32-bit applications closer to the full 4 GB to play with. From a user's perspective: Application speed is usually faster for a 64-bit application in a 64-bit OS compared to the 32-bit version of the application on a 32-bit OS, but most users won't see this speed-up.
You shouldn’t experience a difference with 32-bit apps. 64-bit video editing software might perform better under Vista x64, but only if it was optimized for 64-bit. As far I as I know, there are no differences between CPU types when it comes to 64-bit.
7 Μαΐ 2009 · If you need more RAM, go 64 bit. 32 bit is still the standard, and the most widely supported, with many applications not even capable of supporting or taking advantage of 64-bits. If you don't want to run any risks of non-compatibility, go with the 32-bit option.
27 Ιουλ 2023 · 32-bit systems utilize data in 32-bit pieces, while 64-bit systems utilize data in 64-bit pieces. In general, the more data that can be processed at once, the faster the system can operate.
