8 Νοε 2014 · You cannot perform an upgrade from a 32-bit version of Windows Vista to a 64-bit version of Windows Vista. You must use a full copy of Windows Vista to perform a clean installation of a 64-bit version. For instructions on how to perform a clean installation, see Installing and reinstalling Windows.
The only way to change 32bit Ultimate to 64bit Ultimate is to do a clean install with a FULL Vista Ultimate 64bit Operating System. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/918884 MS advice on doing clean install.
1 Ιαν 2012 · If you are running consumer editions of Windows Vista such as Home Basic or Premium, you can only upgrade to either Windows 7 Home Premium or Ultimate. Also, you cannot do downgrades, which means, if you are running Windows Vista Ultimate now, you cannot downgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium.
31 Δεκ 2009 · You can use an upgrade disk, but you can't do an in place upgrade from a 32 bit system into a 64 bit system, the only way is to do a custom clean install. This means you'll have to reinstall all your programs, but you can save your files and settings to an external storage before doing so with Windows Easy Transfer.
24 Οκτ 2009 · There is NO upgrade from 32 bit to 64 bit operating systems. A clean install is required. This applies to Windows XP 32 to 64, Vista 32 to 64, and 7 32 to 64 (and every possible supported combination of version upgrades.

15 Ιουν 2008 · To answer your question about installing over the top of 32bit, the answer is no. You must do a fresh install when going from 32bit to 64bit. The only way you can do an upgrade is if you stick to 32bit Windows Vista.
