When I plug in the HDMI cable, no new sound device shows up when I check "Playback Devices" in Windows 10. HDMI works fine for video. I suspect I need a driver to let me send sound through the HDMI cable as well as video, but which driver?

10 Οκτ 2017 · macOS is outputting sound over HDMI and has decided that volume should only be changed on the device receiving the sound. If you want the audio to come out of the monitor, adjust its volume directly (or connect speakers).
If your graphics card is missing HDMI audio or DisplayPort audio under macOS then you need to follow this procedure to enable it. Some cards have native HDMI audio and DisplayPort audio from macOS Mojave version 10.14 or later.
