This paper provides a review of voice physiology and biomechanics, the physics of vocal fold vibration and sound production, and laryngeal muscular control of the fundamental frequency of voice, vocal intensity, and voice quality.
31 Δεκ 1988 · Various parts of the cerebral cortex, limbic system, basal ganglia, and extrapyramidal system have been shown in human and animal studies to be important in vocalization, but the exact function...
20 Μαΐ 2020 · Highly trained human singers and non-singer control participants modulated voice pitch and vocal tract length (VTL) to mimic auditory speech targets, while undergoing real-time anatomical scans...
Download scientific diagram | Diagram of the vocal cords and the associated muscles, ligaments, and cartilages (KC, 2021). from publication: The Workings of the Human Voice: Common Pathologies...
Pitch control by the brain is one of the unanswered questions in the neuroscience of human vocal communication. How the brain controls the complex set of rules that coordinate the laryngeal muscles to modulate vocal pitch in speech, song and emotional expression remains elusive.
6 Ιουν 2018 · Here, we used high-density cortical recordings directly from the human brain to determine the encoding of vocal pitch during natural speech. We found neural populations in bilateral dorsal laryngeal motor cortex (dLMC) that selectively encoded produced pitch, but not non-laryngeal articulatory movements.
30 Οκτ 2023 · There are two folds, one on either side of the laryngeal cavity. Each fold is comprised of a vocal ligament, a vocalis muscle and a covering mucous membrane. Vibration of these folds in response to air traveling through the larynx allows us to speak, sing, and produce other vocal sounds.
