In 1997, at the Tokyo Motor Show, Volkswagen debuted their first sports car concept, a bright yellow W12 Syncro (also known as the W12 Syncro Coupé) with a 5.6-litre W12 engine producing 309 kW (420 PS; 414 bhp) with Syncro four-wheel drive.
The W12 Syncro prototype was first unveiled at the 1997 Tokyo Motor Show, while the ‘roadster’, a more advanced version of the W12 Syncro, made its debut at the Volkswagen stand at the 1998 Geneva Motor Show.

10 Μαΐ 2022 · A W12-based race car was created by Volkswagen a year after the Nardo concept was shown. At Lecce's Nardo Ring , it broke its first world record by covering 4,402 miles at an average speed of 183.5 mph in 24 hours.
