The J. Dale Wainwright Unit is a Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) prison for men, located in unincorporated Houston County, Texas. We are now changing the name of the Eastham Unit to the J. Dale Wainwright Unit in recognition of the former Chairman of the Texas Board of Criminal Justice. Justice Dale Wainwright was appointed as board chairman by Governor Greg Abbott in August 2015.
