4 Απρ 2010 · Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department Station #12 is located in Jacksonville, Florida in the St. Nicholas neighborhood. It opened in 1932 when the city annexed South Jacksonville.
Station 12 – St. Nicholas. Fire Station 12 is located at 1411 Atlantic Blvd. and covering Empire Point, Spring Glen, South Metro and San Marco. Station 12 began as a fire station on the north of San Marco as part of the old South Jacksonville Fire Department, and later moved to its current location.
The museum is home to artifacts detailing the history of the fire service not only in Jacksonville, but the entire state of Florida. Exhibits include photos from and a diorama of the Great Fire of 1901, a fully restored 1902 LaFrance horse-drawn fire engine, and a 1926 American LaFrance fire engine.
A Snapshot of Our History. Jacksonville's first organized fire fighting efforts took place about 1850 and involved digging wells and stockpiling ladders and other equipment at three intersections. A fire bell was hung from a five-story tower built over a well at Newnan and Adams streets.
