British 1861 - 1941. Walter Hunt was an animal painter. He was the son of Charles Hunt and probably the brother of Edgar Hunt. All three were animal painters and they all lived in Warwickshire.

Motherless--The Shepherds Pet, was well received when it was exhibited at the Royal Academy both for its sentimental subject of a collie tenderly attanding to a stray lamb, and also for the depiction of the collie alone. This painting was used as a greeting card by The Medici Society, Ltd. in 1992.
Hunt lived in Wandsworth, South West London. He exhibited his works at the Royal Academy beginning in 1881 when he was twenty years old, and also exhibited at the Royal Society of Artists and at the Walker Gallery. His painting, The Dog In The Manger, was purchased by Chantrey Bequest in 1885.He died in 1941.
