Motherless--The Shepherds Pet, was well received when it was exhibited at the Royal Academy both for its sentimental subject of a collie tenderly attanding to a stray lamb, and also for the depiction of the collie alone. This painting was used as a greeting card by The Medici Society, Ltd. in 1992.
Walter Hunt. British 1861 - 1941. Walter Hunt was an animal painter. He was the son of Charles Hunt and probably the brother of Edgar Hunt. All three were animal painters and they all lived in Warwickshire.

Walter Hunt was born into a family of painters. His father, Charles, was a genre artist (a painter of everyday scenes) and his brother Edgar was well-known for his paintings of animals.
