13 Απρ 2014 · In these two paintings, Hunt drops all pretense of portraying working collies and shows two show-type collies, though in a humble stone cottage setting. The one on the left is called "Collie" and is perhaps the earlier of the two.
Walter Hunt painted farmyard scenes in a style similar to Edgar, especially barn interiors with donkeys and calves, but he went further afield for his subjects and included sporting scenes in his oeuvre.

Motherless--The Shepherds Pet, was well received when it was exhibited at the Royal Academy both for its sentimental subject of a collie tenderly attanding to a stray lamb, and also for the depiction of the collie alone. This painting was used as a greeting card by The Medici Society, Ltd. in 1992.
So, too, was Walter Hunt an animal painter, best known for his paintings of farmyard scenes. He began painting when he was thirteen years old. Hunt lived in Wandsworth, South West London.
